Many of us are passionate about travelling, experiencing new cultures and merely enjoying a different lifestyle. At the same time, we wonder how it would be if we could give back our invaluable skills that we have developed through our academic or professional experiences? Nepal is as backward as it is in terms of development, lacks various expertise and skills in the field of management and administration. Hence, VIN has recognised that such gap can be bridged by engaging in our Management and Administration Program. Volunteers placed under this program will not only share their skills but also take with them an extraordinary experience of Nepali culture.
Since our beginnings in 2007 VIN has continued to increase in size and complexity. At present, we have over 20 staff and host hundreds of volunteers annually. However, to ensure the consistency of our projects, job security of our staff and the provision of life enhancing volunteer placements, we must continue to develop our management program. Administration skills and expertise are vital elements to the smooth running of an organisation. Please read on.
In this digital age, it has become important to also maintain a strong digital presence. VIN requires marketing experts to raise awareness of our work through our websites and social media platforms for continued support. Our website is crucial to our visibility and we must continue to innovate and to safe guard it for the future. And, as a volunteer organisation, we rely most heavily on people and must develop contemporary ways to care for this precious resource.
The major goal of Management and Administration Program is to enhance the existing administrative and management skills in the organization and provide a decent experience to our volunteers from all around the globe. With the help of willing and motivated volunteers, VIN aims to boost management and administrative knowledge in Nepalese communities with the support of expert and professionals.
What areas does the Management and Administration Programme focus?
Digital Marketing: Marketing being one of the best ways of promoting our projects, VIN is seeking volunteers/interns with specialist marketing skills. Volunteers under this project will develop promotional materials and oversee our social media.
HR Development: Increasing productivity and competency of human resources is vital to development. Hence, this supportive role helps develop those strategies that promote work relations and performance.
Website Management: VIN’s website is the major window for our volunteers and partners to get an insight on our goals and activities. Hence, a skillful website professional could help us polish our website and give VIN due visibility.
Promotional Volunteering: It is highly important to promote and sustain the culture of volunteerism in Nepal. This particular role focus’ on institutionalizing such behaviors in schools and community awareness.
Editor: VIN does not have a professional editor. Hence, from time to time our content may not be of the best appeal, leaving many efforts unnoticed. An editor would help refine and produce quality content for our websites through social media.
Fund raising: Being a non-profit organisation, VIN lacks a major source of revenue. We are looking for an experienced or practicing fund raising enthusiast who can help us build relations with potential donors and maximize our project coverage.
Hospitality Management: Hospitality is an emerging issues in Nepal. However, we do not have enough expertise and skills to compete in the global market. Our international volunteers would be very helpful in bridging the gap.
Volunteer Coordination: Volunteers give a lot of their selfless time and energy for the good of less fortunate people. For VIN, it is vital to make sure that they get the best out of their experience. Hence, a volunteer coordinator helps us ensure that all the needs of our prized volunteers are addressed.
