In May, VIN was invited to attend a Job shadowing program under the project called CLICK – Improving Access to Digital Literacy for Young People funded by the European Commission in the frame of Erasmus + Program – Capacity Building in the Field of Youth. The main objective of this project is to share best practices in terms of improving youth digital literacy, and explore how education and policy could aid this.
One of VIN’s staff participated in this program starting from 16th May to 30th May, 2015. This program took place in Benidorm, Spain. The main role of the participant was to observe different schools of Spain, assist the teachers in the class room, and show a presentation on Nepal, VIN and Earthquake to the pupils.
The main achievements according to the participant was it helped to learn about educational equipments used in school like use of digital books in teaching English, use of computers for different subjects like art and science, use of different equipments in art classes, webpage of all schools having live updates about school, use of digital communication between parents and teachers, online programs for long distance education and smart boards for the pupils.
Despite of the language barrier and lack of time for many classes, this program was a great opportunity for the participant to explore different international schools with modern techniques used. It was indeed the best way to learn and build ability to perform task effectively in a digital environment. The visit to different classes during the project definitely met the objectives of the project. Job shadow program is a great opportunity for youths to learn new things, meet new people and experience new culture and to experience some professionalism.
