Clothes Distribution to Senior Citizen of Okhaldhunga:
On the 10th of July, VIN’s President Bhupendra Ghimire conducted a felicitation/honour program for the senior citizens who were 70 + age. The traditional attire was distributed for both males and females. In total 40 people from the Taluwa community in Okhaldhunga benefitted from the program.
“Senior Citizen” is defined as a citizen who is seventy years or older, and there is also a definition of “Experienced Senior Citizen” as a senior citizen who is incapable physically or mentally. We, however, feel all these incredible humans have served the communities for a long period of lives and should be honoured.
In rural and remote villages, life is very hard. Many people migrate from these areas to find a better living. The population has been decreasing year by year due to migration, creating unbalanced demographic growth. The people who we felicitated are the ones who have always lived in their motherland and served unconditionally.
We acknowledge the love, service and inspiration they have provided to generations. They are the true jewels of our motherland. They also need some recognition from us. There is a culture of remembering someone’s life and work only when they pass away. But why not start a culture of appreciation while they are still with us? This act gives every human an inspiration to contribute to the community in need, and it fosters a positive culture to harness peace and harmony.
Thus, the main purpose of organizing a senior citizen felicitation program was: to recognize their unconditional service and contribution to their motherland; to make them feel that there is someone who can bring them a BIG SMILE, and initiate & encourage the culture of appreciation for the future generation.
How did we honour / Felicitate the Senior Citizens?
We organized a social gathering and remembered the great work they have done for other people. We also provided: Dhaka Topi, Daura Suruwal, a coat, and a pair of socks and shoes for men and set of Cholo and sari (red sari for married women and green /blue sari for widows), a pair of socks and
shoes and a shawl for the women.
They were so happy to have new clothes provided by our president Bhupi Ghimire and showered an abundance of love and blessings. Their faces were lightened by happiness with hope.
Good respond in return of this difficulty with solid arguments and telling everything concerning that.
