We are excited to announce the launch of the ECHAV project, a collaborative effort between ViN and five European sending organizations: IBO Italia (Italy), Grenzenlos (Austria), Keric (Slovakia), Amigos de Europa (Spain), and Visioneers (Germany). This two-month project will see ten international volunteers deployed to Okhaldhunga, Nepal, to contribute to the well-being of children and the wider community.
Project Goals:
- Strengthen partnerships with local government, schools, and parents to enhance child protection measures.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive life skills and creativity program for children.
- Establish School-based Child Protection Clubs to empower students and promote child safety.
- Increase access to computer and English language learning opportunities.
Volunteer Activities:
- Onboarding: Arrival orientation, cultural sensitivity training, Nepali language classes, and project briefings.
- Community Engagement: Collaborating with local authorities, schools, and parents to identify child protection needs and develop action plans.
- Life Skills and Creativity Program Development: Revising and promoting existing resources, and establishing wall magazines in schools to showcase student work.
- Child Protection Club Formation: Establishing new clubs in schools, training teachers and youth leaders on club management, and supporting initial club activities.
- English and Computer Skills Development: Assisting teachers in providing regular English and computer lessons in schools and the Women Business Centre.
- Project Reporting and Handover: Creating a comprehensive final report and ensuring a smooth project handover.
Impact:
The ECHAV project aims to create a positive and lasting impact on the Okhaldhunga community. By promoting child protection, fostering creativity, and improving access to education, the project will empower children and contribute to a brighter future for the entire community.
