25th May, 2014 : VIN has been supporting for personal toilet construction program from 2009 in Jitpurphedi VDC. It is related to community health project of VIN. The major objects are to improve health and hygiene facility by assuring all families have toilet of community people and to support of government on open defecate free village. VIN provided non local materials; 4bags cement, 20kg iron rod, 2 pieces roof materials, pan pipe set and wire. VIN mobilized local and international volunteers for this construction project.
This month eleven volunteers from United States helped in toilet construction work in Dhitalgaun and phedi. They helped four families for five days in toilet construction work; digging safety tank hole, making wall of tank and house, caring materials and other supports. VIN managed local volunteer to assist these international volunteers. They helped by translating language, managing work. VIN staffs also regularly follow-up and supervise time to time.
The community people welcomed international volunteers in their home. They appreciated the help of these group volunteers. Till date 70% of the toilet constructed work has been completed. The families were very grateful to VIN for this effort.
