As EU Aid Volunteers in Nepal through the project Sustainable Development through Humanitarian Aid Volunteers (SuDHAV), we had the opportunity to take part in the “Gaining Influence in a world of change and diversity: a Leadership training for NGOS’s”, held the 19-20 of November 2018.
Designed to help individuals being more effective in leading teams and organizations, the workshop has been presented by Volunteers Initiative Nepal – VIN (hosting organization in the EUAV program) and Partners in Sustainable Learning (PiSL). Mr. Dan Schwab, PiSL Board Chair and leadership educator, and Steve Leonoudakis, an expert in leadership development have conducted the workshop.
We greatly welcomed this chance to take part in it, since the attending participants were coming from different parts of Nepal and from local organizations involved in several fields like childhood education, women empowerment, gender issues and community-based organizations. The course-tailored content let us engaging within each other, thus enhancing our knowledge on exploring the principles of leadership and its good practice.
Throughout these two days, technical and practical activities allowed us to better understand the role of the leader in an NGO, as well as to develop greater depth of understanding of the four domains of leadership.
Consequently, we further explore the practices of leadership to a current personal or organizational challenge, finally interacting and networking at both personal and professional level with other NGO leaders. Thank you VIN for providing this opportunity for EU Aid Volunteers. By Carmelo Triolo – EU Aid Voluntee.
