Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN) in collaboration with PiSL (Partners in Sustainable Learning) successfully conducted a two days training program on “Gaining Influence in a world of change and diversity: A leadership training for NGOs”. The training was held at the head office of VIN itself on November 19 and 20, 2018. This training was attended by around 23 participants who were working for the development sectors including 6 EU Aid volunteers who are volunteering at VIN for 9 months in various projects. The training was provided by two international instructors Dan Schwab and Steve Leonoudakis from USA.
The major objective of this training was to better understand the role of the leader in an NGO, develop greater depth of understanding of the four domains of leadership, apply the practice of leadership to a current personal or organizational challenge, and interact and network with other NGO leaders.
The training started with the general introductions of all the participants. Both Dan and Steve gave us various insights about the role of a leader and what does it mean to be a leader. The training was not only based on theoretical information but was more of an interactive training along with the practical activities with all the participants. This interaction was not only fun but it also gave all the participants to get to know each other more openly. The activities done during the training helped the participants to deal with their daily life challenges to enhance their leadership skills better.
The 2 days training program ended with a good note. The participants were given certificates for the completion of the training and instructors were felicitated with the appreciation letter for their contribution. All the participants enjoyed the training and expressed their gratitude towards VIN and the instructors. The also shared about getting these kinds of training in the upcoming future as well.
I am interested to partake in a training which provides leadership trainings for those already working or who intend to work in developmental organisations. Kindly let me know the upcoming programs.
