On 11th December, WASH project orientation program was held in Jitpurphedi community, Nepal. The orientation meeting was targeted to earthquake victim family of Jitpurphedi community. The objective of the orientation was to share information about WASH project, to introduce earthquake resistance toilet design for all family, to develop toilet construction plan with community people and to verify name list of families who do not have toilet.
The series of activities were held such as demonstration of WASH related poster and earthquake resistance toilet design, sharing and exchanging experience of WASH project and collecting name list that do not have the toilet access and collecting timeline for toilet construction. Various representative from municipality, ward co-coordinator, Volunteers Initiative Nepal, international volunteers participated in the orientation .They were all together 126 participants among them 115 women and men altogether from community, 2 MP office,4 VIN team and 5 international volunteers .
VIN’s program manager spoke on importance of WASH project; toilet construction project and he requested to complete the toilet during one month in the community . He focused on the need of family’s contribution for the construction of the toilets.
The meeting was very successful to collect opinion and commitments of community people. The participants were able to understand the role of each concerned members. They were excited to build toilet and stop open defecation free practice.
