“To ensure economic freedom and independence for women through the establishment of a micro-credit system” based on this objective VIN has been implementing successful microcredit projects with a good resource in the Jitpurphedi community. Meanwhile, VIN has supported do micro-credit group meeting in Tarkeshwor Municipality-3 Dadagaun, Jitpurphedi in December 2019. There were eight groups with 46 women.
This meeting happened according to the Nepali calendar 20th of every month at 11 am and 1 pm in two different places. During the group meeting, co-operative staff collected personal and group savings, loan interest collection and also loan payment by loan taker members with 14% interest. Women groups have practiced playing the roles of president, treasurer, secretary, and general members during a meeting. The record-keeping is established as an accounting system by women co-operative. They are keeping every saving and loan record at register book and passbooks as well. President played the roles of the manager; encourage to raise the problem of group members, solve the problem as a democratic way, decision making, etc. The record-keeping roles are delivering to treasurer and meeting minutes and other communication roles are doing by the secretary. During the meeting, we made plans for life skills class and women’s right class for them and also decided to request more skills training for vegetable farming. They shared stories of vegetable marketing and also shared their success from the farming business.
Women are happy from the micro-credit system through co-operative because they took loans for different income generation work from co-operative. They pleased with the VIN’s projects and supports them for sustainable development. And also women expected to continue attention and support from VIN to run the micro-credit system in the Jitpurphedi community.
