VIN medical team (doctor, nurses and VIN volunteers) have visited an orphanage in Kathmandu. The team has provided medical services to children in orphanage. There were only 10 children, out of 23 children present in orphanage at the time on arrival. Children were suffered from skin infections. The infected wound with 3 children of age 3-8 was severe. There was a collection of pus on knees, hands and feet. Also four other were suffered from scabies. Medical doctor and volunteers dressed the wound and drain the pus. It was prescribed antibiotic, antihistamines and medicine for scabies. VIN covered all the cost for medicines. Parents were told to take care of the wounds, dress the wound once a day with antiseptic. They are told to maintain health, hygiene and sanitation in the area. They should watch children using soap to wash hands. They should manage clean water to get shower at least three times a week. Two VIN Volunteers working with orphanage are told to monitor the process.
VIN has been supporting orphanages in the town since 2009. VIN donates funds, sponsor children and volunteers work in orphanage. It is aimed to ensure child rights in orphanages. VIN supported many children in orphanages to get education and learn skills. Sometimes VIN organizes health camp in orphanages and also in need. It has helped to manage children health.
