22nd September, 2014: VIN organizes volunteer’s Meeting every month which happens to be at VIN’s main office, Balaju. It is an opportunity to meet all the volunteers and share their experience and know about their present and future plans at VIN. It also supports the volunteers to address the challenges they are facing in their placements.
The volunteer meeting of September was carried out on 19th of September, Friday. There were 26 volunteers present for the meeting. The meeting started at 2:15. The meeting was started by a small game which helped to know each other well. There were 4 main agendas to be discussed in this meeting. Volunteers started by sharing their experience and work they are doing in their placements. Most of the volunteers are working at community. The main activities volunteers are undertaking are Classes on Domestic Violence, Mental Wellbeing classes, classes to the youth and school children on Film and documentary making, checking blood pressure of around community, research on Women Trafficking and some volunteer are teaching English to the children at Monastery and Community school. The main challenge pointed out in this meeting was language barrier.
The volunteers were also informed about the Dashain festival and holidays. During this time volunteers can plan for some travel tour or also stay with host family to experience the festival. Most of the volunteer decided to plan to travel. Next agenda was about the international peace day. For this volunteers were divided in group and asked to make different creative posters to celebrate this day.
Volunteer Manager made respond to all the problems and challenges that volunteers have been facing. The meeting was followed by other Agenda where we discussed VIN’s Update and support. VIN and its volunteers have been making positive impacts on the lives of marginalized people living in the community.
