I chose the Childcare and Development program together with my sister. We stayed at a very traditional house in a small community, quite far from the city, high in the mountains. The host family was very kind and welcoming. They all spoke a little English except for the mother. The school we worked at was 2 mins walk away. Since I was with my sister, I enjoyed my stay even though there was nothing around we could do when we had free time. If others plan to stay alone there they might feel lonely at some point but for those who want to be alone and relax in a beautiful place, it is an enjoyable program. The view is absolutely amazing from the house and school. During the monsoon season the transportation is very difficult, sometimes impossible. Volunteers should be prepared for walking around 40 mins down in case there is no transport. For those who like to enjoy the mountains and don’t mind being a bit isolated, it is a perfectly fine location.
