This was my very first volunteering experience, and although I love my time here in Nepal. I am somehow disappointed (the word is too strong for what I feel), but I am not disappointed in VIN, but rather in my own decision of having chosen the program in photo journalism. I am a professional journalist in France, and I realize now that I would have preferred to volunteer in a different field than what I do in France. As a matter of fact, I am still volunteering why VIN has a ‘’journalism program’’, because I don’t really see how we help Nepali people when we choose this program. I did not really feel useful while I was working for the New spotlight even though I am very glad that two articles I wrote were actually published. Everything went well with the editor by the way.
But this is the reason why I asked to change program for my last week, and go teach English in a monastery. An experience that I really enjoyed!
Overall I am thankful for the month I spent here, living at a host families, and then at a monastery have both been amazing life experience. So, thank you for that.
