Teaching English at the Rinchen Palri Monastery was an indescribable joy. Not only did I find enthusiastic students, but I also found kind, generous, and caring friends who welcomed me warmly. I’m grateful to have formed a friendship with the principal in which he taught me Tibetan Philosophy and I helped him improve his English. While I came as a teacher for the monks, I found that I learned so much from living with them - not only about Buddhist living but about life itself. The monastery is a very peaceful place and my experience there was so positive that I found it difficult to leave.

Volunteering through VIN was a unique opportunity. You dive into the mesmerizing chaos of the beautiful Nepali culture, through its countless daily struggles offset by the beauty of the people and the land, breathtakingly beautiful and teeming with kindness and joy.

I chose the Childcare and Development program together with my sister. For those who like to enjoy the mountains and don’t mind being a bit isolated, it is a perfectly fine location.
