In April 2016, I started my volunteering service with Volunteers Initiative Nepal. This experience led to my interest in social work and I completed my graduation in Social Work. I have had the pleasure of working with international volunteers from all over the world for various VIN projects. Working together with people from different countries and from different cultural background gave me great exposure and helped improve my interpersonal skills.
Currently, I am in France to volunteer at Solidarites Jeunesses, a French volunteering organization located in Montendre, France. Solidarites Jeunesses is an organization that works with youth and helps in developing collective life and cultural exchange. On 1st July 2019, I joined the organizations’ Youth Exchange Project.
The first week, we had an introduction session about the work I would be doing and prepare for the project. The eco-citizenship project is focussed in introducing organic farming and composting techniques to volunteers. I learned about gardening and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. For practical knowledge, we were taken to a farm which had an insect house. There, insects were bred for pollination to create a better environment.
During the second week and third week, we welcomed different groups of volunteers for the work camp. We got to share our culture, lifestyle, and food. For the international dinner day, we prepared our traditional food from each country and shared them with each other. We also held discussions on many social issues like waste management, pollution, global warming and so on. The project ends on 28th august 2019.
This past month has been a great learning experience for me. I am grateful to VIN for providing me with the opportunity to volunteer in France.
i want to do work with you.
