Nepal is a patriarchal society, dominated by men. Inequality is really common. Women have less basic education and less opportunity to empower social and economic environment. In fact men occupy most of the works with responsibility.
That’s why VIN contributes to educate woman on their right to develop a new generation with more equality in collaboration with the women micro credit cooperative. This cooperative was created in 2010 and is counting now 542 female members in Jitpur community. With the help of VIN, the women initiative and their activities are being financially supported. This leads to their independence so nowadays they are able to improve their english skills, defend their human rights and improve their computer knowledge.
Mariel, a volunteer, is teaching English for women in the community in Jitpur. It is the opportunity for their woman to be more educated and in fact to have more chance to develop their initiative. Mariel is also giving stress and management lessons for women. As the women live such a busy life, they don’t have enough time to care for themselves. They have to care about the household, like cooking, cleaning and looking after the needs of their children. But nobody has explained to them how to manage their time to feel better and how to relax between their hard works.
With the help of the volunteers from VIN the women get a chance to lead their knowledge further to their children so this raises the probability of a better future for the women in Nepal.
